My July Mini Contest - Shapes in poetry starts today!
This is just a slight re-working of an older journal for the purposes of this but here we go
CONCRETE POETRY - Concrete (or shape) poetry is an inventive form where the poetry takes on the shape of its subject.
The definition of this with an example can be found here [link]
This is the chosen theme for this mini challenge Im setting for July For a few more examples Ive pilfered a few from my gallery
Judges
Rules ( may be changed and updated if the judges see fit)
it MUST be your own work one entry per person so make your entry count! be inventive with your shapes! Try to avoid squares this is about visual poetry to a degree - but its more about the shape you can make with your words not how your words look with a picture the words must form the picture or shape new or old entries it doesnt matter - but nothing over 6 months old please! you can use other shapes to accent your verse some but this is about the words not how you accent them or of course it can be just the use of text. the text must be legible and easily read
the judges will pick a top 3 contest open from the 10th of July until July 31st. to enter simply note myself or =Jazzman1989 with a note titled July challenge or something similar that contains either a link or a thumb of your piece
=Jazzman1989 will feature the top 3 winners in his journal along with some other examples of their work
~FreyaBigg will feature the top 3 winners in a journal
=VirginPrune will feature the top 3 winners and some of their other work in his journal
*the-lost-owl will feature the top 3 winners in a journal
=rockgem (me) will offer a journal feature to all the entries received and then a second feature to the First and Second and Third places - Ill also create them a piece of artwork - of their choice ( please take a peek in my gallery to see what kind of thing I do create!)
Hopefully more features for winners from other people to come

Ive got a whole batch of avatars that I am going to share with the DA community in this Avatar Bank project
So if any one wants to use one for their DA avatar note me about it and I will put in the artists comments that it is an avatar for that person and then they have permission to use it - thus no violations, no art theft, none of the above its all good!
