ok this one came about with me tidying out the cupboards and finding a whole bunch of pressed roses in a book - so i had a bright idea to try to make a pretty picture with them fortunately in my tidying out i found out an old leather covered chair where the leather is all weathered and cracked so i used that for a more interesting background and it fitted perfectly with the withered flowers - decided to make them stand out some to remove all the colour apart from the red highlights on the petals enjoy
I think this is a fantastic idea; the texture and the tone of the photograph is wonderful, and both completely suit the tone of the roses death. The silver stems contrast well with the black background, and again highlight the roses. One idea could be contrasting the dead roses on top of something else that was very much alive, for instance grass, in order to form a sharper feel to it. This could also make the whole concept a lot darker. However, this could perhaps ruin the stark simplicity of the photograph. Either or, a really original idea, and a great photo.
Great concept, love what you did with this. If I credit you as the photographer, can I use this for an assignment? I wouldn't copy the whole thing, just the roses in a heart. I don't get paid, I'm just designing covers for books for free for a school assignment and if anyone came across it and wants, it then it's free publicity for you and me. If not I understand. I won't use your photo until you say yes or no.
thankyou - and yes the background of the chair fabric really helped with teh antique look here - ias so glad ihad that little bit of inspiration - it went so well as a texture with the dried roses again so glad you like this one and thankyou so much for the compliment on it
