Literature Text

Was it a dream
Or a dream of a dream?

A place… no - not just  one - many places.
So many Lifetimes and distant lands,
Where we were together.

And so, patiently,
With hope as fragile as rice paper,
I folded squares into flapping birds.

Keeping count.

One thousand in exchange for a wish.
That I would keep and give to you
As the wish I wanted I cannot make.

Longing and superstition flood my mind;
Perhaps you think I am truly run mad?
But I must leave for your sake, not mine.

Stubborn prides.

I wandered into the wild of a winter storm,
Keeping my hope lit like a paper lantern
That you might follow me.

Step by step, my simple  intent to walk;
Until the  wide snow heavy  boughs,
Bloomed again with pink blossoms.

Don't turn.

Are you shouting ? Calling for me now
Or is it simply just  the wind words
A false comfort. my flame is fading.

But the branches grow pink again
And the snow no longer freezing
I can rest now….

Dawn came.

Perhaps I was foolish to think
That you might follow me there,
As I was pulled into my strange dream.

Where patiently
With hope as fragile as rice paper
I folded squares into flapping birds.

Was it a dream
Or a dream of a dream?
another strange dream i decided to write down, this one told a story all be it a sad one like a continuation of my 'paper cranes' piece
i might try writing it in prose format eventually.

Dreams have to be the best source of inspiration :)
Excellent work, beautifully written. I love how the poem unfolds, the rhythm you use. The way you write, and that's all.
I wish I could say more but I really feel like I'm always repeating myself -sorry.
Anyway, just know that I really adore this poem. Congrats :)
