Lips.I adore the wicked stroke of your smile;
The lick of your words as you spill them,
The upturned bow of sensual lips--
That I find pouted in defiant promise,
And spilling vulgarities coquettishly,
Or making the most innocent remark
Sound so very devious-- near nefarious!
When you whisper it against my ear.

Decay.A hollow pleasure.
Something meant to be a 'we',
Done as an 'I'.
With the dead for company
I remind myself there is beauty in decay;

Yet, the breakdown of feelings,
And the decomposition of hearts;
Why does this feel so ugly ?

RobinWith your red waistcoat and brown jacket;
We shared biscuits and afternoon sunshine,
You charmed me and sang while I worked--
Yet remained so elusively camera-shy.

Forever EyesIn another lifetime
You once told me;
'Forever has green eyes…'

That felt '…like a gentle breeze
like breath along skin.'
- I countered in disagreement--

No. I believe in contrary;
'Forever has dark eyes
That burn like coals into history'

Behind unfamiliar faces--
The flame of forever souls
Candles in the darkest age.

'Remember love--
A breeze can extinguish
The spark of a candle.'

'Perhaps…
But a gust of the wind,
Can fan an entire forest fire.'

Our moments,
Familiar heartbeats
Simply sighs in time.

Washed Away... Our old
footprints     are now
history.         All of       them
    had to       give in      to the      tide,
                                     To be      washed
                                                     slowly    from

9th life.Eight of nine used up,
The ninth remaining--
Well spent in idle relaxation.
And so you dream;
Claiming in idle stretches
A sunlit window ledge.
Although the light
Is never as warm or bright
As in your youth,
And the mice nowadays
All far too fast.
The soul more than willing
With its kittenish exuberance
To chase bootlaces--
The body old and content
To snuggle upon a lap
With rumbling purr.

Urban darkThe light faded out
To mustard, ochre sky.
To deeper sepia dusk--
And then finally indigo,
With the twilight silhouette
Of the urban landscape sprawl
Reaching upward with rooftop fingers,
Then becoming blended almost completely
Into the dark clouds that bubbled up
And rose into the new night darkness.

Personal godsIn your own arrogant head,
You lined up your personal gods;
A pantheon you alone created --
Other beings that you could blame,
For every one of your human errors
To keep you from blaming yourself.
I won't be a sacrifice on their alter
And certainly not one on yours.

VoidI should stop my idle dreaming,
Where you (for once) saw me for real;
But its easier to remain sleeping
Than to force myself to awaken.
I've seen the stars both here and there,
And I've made my careful worded wishes.
I'm still here but you never were.
I believed you were there beside me,
No-- you're simply the empty space
The void that always needed filling.

I still can't say it...I've grown.
You no longer haunt me;
I have changed

I accept my face is my own,
You are part of me but I'm not you.

I never have been
And never will be.

Yet,
Four years on;
I still can't find the words I need

To finally manage to say
'Goodbye Dad.'

Sky EyesAs August crept in,
The wideness of the skies above
Became a perfect storybook blue,
And I wondered how many dreams
I might chase across it,
How many more might wilt?
Evaporating in the heat,
Inconsistent, insubstantial ,
Mirages I cling to for a comfort.
I saw your eyes there above me--
Are you real,
Or did I just imagine you too…?

Fade out...As an artist;
My worlds would fade
My creations would become hollow
Cracked and somehow meaningless--
Nothing but fragile shells without you;
As would I…

Late JulyThe time was the third week of July
And I still told the hours by dandelions;
Despite the shy sunlight peering down,
Patchwork skies smelled like coming rain,
And the click of ladies heels on asphalt.
It tasted like the swim of elusive soap
In a warm bath to soothe bruised shins,
And the caress of deep plum velvet
Behind candlelight and ivory walls--
Between mahogany towers.

Plastic Trinkets... The sky gave me jewels,
And beneath a pink umbrella
I treasured my beaded plastic trinkets--
All Wellingtons and a plastic wand.
Making my wishes with puddle bound pirouettes,
'When i grow up i want to be a princess!'
No tiara (and one pigtail missing its bow.)
But so certain and whimsical
In childhoods innocence.
Now I'm grown up
I just want to be yours...

Bird-collectorYou are an ornithologist,
With the way you watch and study;
How you collect pretty birds.

Some so very gregarious
And some timid
Those little birds with broken wings.

You coax them in to hand and trust,
You try to mend them-- make them sing.
Sometimes they fix…

…Sometimes they break.

How do you choose the ones you take in ?

Bright--
Yet Gothic in variety,
For your fancy exotic flock
With their sweetly accented voices
You favour those with russet plumage.

I watch you display and flirt for those
With shape and form so unlike mine.

I don't need hawk-eyes to see,
Things change.

little idea i had - i took a photograph of some lace gloves i own ( i had them when i was a bridesmaid at my aunts wedding some years ago when i was about 7 ) and wanted to dabble some with them i got a nifty aged looking picture but i wasn't sure what else to do so i wrote
