Mirror scarecrow

You greeted morning
With your scarecrow hair
And deep plum bathrobe,
Crooked smile and a witches familiar
(Not black but an elderly tabby)
And a wicked potion of caffeine
In your favourite green chipped mug.
Skewed spectacles applied,
To aid the frantic search
For the last page read
Of last nights abandoned novel,
Mind still near sleeping
Chasing half remembered dreams
In the looking glass.
