Has Anyone Seen My Fish...? by rockgem Has Anyone Seen My Fish...? by rockgem
well? have they? :giggle: :fish:

based on a little image on a sweater I had some years back,
but the title - well if you are a spectacle wearer and you have pushed your glasses up on top of your head then cannot for the life of you find them...

about time I got into the swing of some fractal manipulation works again I've been working so much with photography I've missed this kind of work!
sort of basic for some of my usual fractal manips but highly cute - enjoy

fractal manipulation created using fractals rendered in apophysis and pieced together using photoshop  (a slight tweak with the burn/dodge tool as well)

I like the concept of this work and at times wish I could make things like this other than writing things :) The concept is very relatable - at times one is holding a key and looking for it! I like it! And the over all image is quite innocent and nice!

thankyou for the compliment :aww: to be fair with things like this the simpler it is the better, i did make a basic tutorial on how to make an image like this using photoshop and added the fractal components to the tutorial to download - i'm working on another tutorial similar at the moment, i have the screen shots but i have yet to put them all together and write the text. ( the new tutorial will be for a piglet)

You are very welcome and yes, it is better to keep them simple and yay for tutorials :la:

sometimes simple is more effective - not always because sometimes details really finish works off wonderfully - but sometimes over detailing can really ruin a piece

No, it says it's a "fractal manipulation" and I'm like, "whoa! Like.. "whoa!" .. "how"?! I mean, as a photomanipulation, I can understand but a "fractal manipulation"? :O_o:

I'm not even surew hat that is..

 yes it is - basically i made a tutorial on how this sort of works, i render the fractals using apophysis then i use photoshop to piece all the bits together :P fractal manipulations are generally fractals that have been rendered but then have had additional work done to them after rendering in another program

Oh, so fractal manipulations aren't that different expect, tehy're very cool and unique looking. Definitely gives off a kind of traditional feel in my opinoin. :)

Would you say this kinds of manipulations are easier than, you know, photomanipulation? :)

Oh, you did! Then, THANK YOU in advance. I will read them when I remember, terrible memory I have. Extremely. :(

it depends - some people do a lot of post-work after the initial fractal is rendered others do less post-work as it were, i do quite  a lot and i treat my pieces of fractal like someone might treat paper or collage pieces.
i find these easier than photomanipulation as i more or less dictate the shapes i need rather than have to search from stock and tweak and edit it.

no worries about the terrible memory - i have one of those also. :P

Isn't that like the secret, that most real works are actually done in post-production? :) I mean, I do mine usually at post-work. For example, this. I do the initial grounding but I only start digging when it's in the post-work stage.. :O_o:.. I hope that made sense because it idnd't to me ;P hahahah.. :peacE:

Really? I find it hard.. I tried doing some fractals a couple of days ago with MD3D or whatever it was titled... I gave up ;P... the interface is confusing but I will try again as I do want to try fractals eventually. They're like the epitome of abstracts. :D

Sorry for my late response! :(

in a round about way it made sense :P

try apophysis  instead i found it easier to get to grips with than MD3D - it can take a while but i know there are plenty of resources and groups here on dA that will help you learn and get to grips with fractals

better late than never - things are a bit hectic in my life at the present so most my replies are late these days as well
