RegenerationThe sky burned,
A jet trail splicing it apart…
I swear I see another world in that gap.
Where the sky broke apart
Just beyond the old, old snow-capped castle
And the still unpolluted new masonry
Roses, thorns and anchors in the brickwork,
Long extinct sea-life
Holding up the world I know
As the skies fall down in flakes--
But the real roses are gone;
The anchor sunk-- two miles down,
And even those walls will eventually crumble.
