Lastly...The final day of another year
Arrived almost unnoticed;
As I count up the long list of losses-
Those of people and those of emotions,
Tallying up all the wrong-doings,
The petty spites and bone-deep hurts.
Boxing each away as a memory
Left to gather dust somewhere,
Able to neither forgive nor forget,
But able to move forwards--
And start counting the gains.

Gaps.There are gaps in my memory-
How did I get from there to here?
I promise the only living things around me
(The carnivorous houseplants and the cat)
That I will be alright...
Even though i'm not sure i believe it.

well this one was designed specifically to fill a box frame we had laying around - it was going to be work for the walls in the front room but then mom changed her mind several times
