You demand those around you to strike up the band
And dance upon your  word
I realise;
You have zero musical talent
And yet you attempt to play the world like a fiddle
Trying to force it to your will
When it turned to its own rhythm
Eons before your ancestors took their first steps
You try to push things against the grain--
But you’ll learn one day
That you are not the conductor
Not of the world,
Not of destiny,
And last of all not of me.
some people won't learn...

Never were truer words than these you have writ. I sometimes wish I could say the same to others I've encountered in my lifetime who tried to control me. You've done so in quite with finesse and eloquence. :)

people will always try to exert a degree of control over others, sometimes its tolerable sometimes people push too far, its a matter of  coming to that point where enough truly is enough

Some people are just like that and they never seem to understand why their behaviour causes trouble for them.

True. That sentence is slightly ironic since this was about the person who thinks everything is about them. I think thats why I like the work so much. It resonates on both sides of the argument.

perhaps. but hte more ironic thing would be even if they read this they would have no idea the dig in it IS about them.

This begs the question: At which point is narcissism a mental illness? That begs the question: When is an instance of paranoia a selfish endeavor? In which forum is a person with mental illness allowed to express paranoid thoughts?

perfection is an illusion that varies from person to person as everyone has a different image in their mind as to what perfection is, i think it becomes a mental illness when it becomes associated with body dismorphia what they see contradicting what everyone else sees, and that in itself is a minefield, which i'd rather not meander too deeply into  but but i could give examples of the the 40 something receding hairline overweight drunk and smelling bad  who sees himself as Adonis and thinks every other person ought to as well even though he is still in his mind living the 'glory days' of his 20's, or the woman wearing a dress size that is 3 sizes too small and a style more suited hypothetically to someone half her age and thinking she looks 'gorgeous'  what they see in the mirror is different to what other people see - but there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
'just because you are paranoid it doesn't mean they aren't actually out to get you' is the old joke everyone is insecure about something some people just grasp onto and focus on those insecurities more than others paranoia starts to become a selfish thing i suppose when people hear about someone else's misfortune but their first thought is how that will effect them and becomes a spiral of their own problems, things along the lines of 'the world is out to get me because my friend lost his job and now i will have to buy more drinks when we hang out and he might ask me for help watching the kids while he looks for work and then i'll have no time to myselfand how will it look if i am hanging out with someone unemployed will they think i am unemployed- will they think i am unemployed? people are going to look at me different'  its always a matter of perspective 'what is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly' - Morticia Addams.

My former boss used to recite that phrase verbatim. "Just because you are paranoid it doesn't mean they aren't actually out to get you."  It's always rang true in my line of work. Chaos is the order of the gods. Indeed.

 it certainly can apply to many aspects, along with the 'prepare for the worst' mentality if you assume the world is out to get you then you cannot be disappointed when in one instance this turns out to be true.
you can also argue the point of it depending on if you believe you choose your own destiny or if it is per-ordained for you
